These guys are a band from my school and they are so ridiculous. They actually consider themselves a serious band. By the way, I'm the lead singer for The Seed, one of the bands that made one of the few insightful comments on their page.

That group without a doubt belongs on my 'hilariously bad' CD.

Yngwie Malmsteen's next album is set for an Autumn (Fall) release this year or an early 2008 release, and Guns N' Roses is actually going to release Chineese Democracy this September... we'll have to wait and see.

So I found a progressive metal band by the name of "Pagan's Mind".
Definitely worth checking out.

2007 has already shaped up to be one of the greatest years in Metal music in a LONG time. Only three dissapointing releases this year. Let's recap the current releases.

Circus Maximus - Isolate - AMAZING!!!!!!!
DGM - Different Shapes - HIGHLY recommended
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos - Highly recommended for fuel for a bon fire. DT continues their streak of shit on the underwear of metal.
Excalion - Waterlines - HIGHLY recommended
Freedom Call - Dimensions - A weaker effort, but has moments!
Kamelot - Ghost Opera - Utter crap.
Sonata Arctica - Unia - Dissapointing effort
Sun Caged - Artemisia - Too pretentious, has moments
Threshold - Dead Reckoning - Highly Recommended
Thunderstone - Evolution 4.0 - Signature booming sound throughout
Vanishing Point - Fourth Season - Has bright moments
Vision Divine - The 25th Hour - Highly Recommended

Upcoming releases!!
Dreamscape - 5th Season - 21st of September
Ivory Tower - IT - SOON!
Nightwish - Dark Passion Play - September 28th
Pagan's Mind - God's Equation - November 9th
Voyager - uniVerse - Soon

Stratovarius and Stride have said new releases are soon, but unknown.

You didn't mention The Last Kind Words by DevilDriver. That was released this year.

What, no Manowar's "Gods of War"?

Just kidding. I think Manowar is in its own genre, the "completely batshit insane" (just imagine a fusion of Dragonforce's spirit, and Rhapsody (of fire!!1!1)'s obession with mythology) genre, though Joey DeMaio did refer to Metallica as "country music", forever earning my respect.
"Unfortunately, the dragon only speaks in Napalm, a curious ancient language that you don't really need to speak to understand."

Never heard anything on Circus Maximus, but considering I've liked everything Porter has ever suggested before, I'm definitely going to listen to that.

Unia is less than amazing, but it's grown on me some after listening to it a few times. Still, I hope they go back to their old style.
Porter: lets play, truth or dare
Porter: war you first
Porter: truth or dare
WarV: truth???
Porter: ok: the truth:
Porter: YOU SUCK
Porter: HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW
Porter: HSfjksdfhsadf
WarV: That is not how it works.

After obsessing over DragonForce I spent a while getting stuck into Judas Priest, Anthrax and Megadeth and now that I've got some spare time on my hands I'd like to listen to some Malmsteen.

I've never listened to him and so have no idea, could you advise some of your favorite songs or good stuff to start at?
