Note the first part of Alan's last name: Strapha. Could this imply that he is a Straphalyn? If so, he may become quite a threat down the road -- assuming, of course, that he is still alive.

I predict a tough plunge between Rhue and Alan in Episode 6.

let's put it this way.
He did say he had a sore back during the plunge.
Fading into the night,
The scourge of fear, the blight.
Upon this land beneath the sky.
Echoes of the past decry.

*fill in the blanks*
*fill in the blanks*

In that a lost love carried on
The words to a lonely song.

*fill in the blanks*
*fill in the blanks*

Yes, everyone must surely bleed!
That is what I had decreed.

But the Truth will hide nothing.

no, he was the first attacked.
That leads me to believe that he didn't take the full force of the attack because of others that were in the way/wasn't impaled like the rest of the "living" were.

Different circumstances.
Fading into the night,
The scourge of fear, the blight.
Upon this land beneath the sky.
Echoes of the past decry.

Caught off guard, and he's not a fighter...

Remember from ep 2...

Well, he implied it.
Same thing.

Echoes of the past decry.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alan ended up being the son of the Straphalyn. That might explain his last name as VileHand pointed it out. It would also fit in with the comments that imply Alan being a bit more important, but not being out of line with his current personality.

He might be on a quest to avenge the death of his father -- Eyashu maybe? -- but in the end he's incompetent and ends up being the comic relief, with perhaps the occasional contribution due to his heritage.

I think you mean The Paraphalyn. There can only be one Paraphalyn at a time, but there are multiple lyns of the other ranks including Straphalyns.

Erm...you're right, I meant the Paraphalyn. VileHand's post caught my eye on my way to posting; it seemed to connect with my own idea and since I couldn't remember the title I assumed Straphalyn was the one I meant.
