No, because fanfiction is condoned by the original author/creator. Also, fanfiction suggests a story which expands on the original story, rather than taking the exact same story into a different medium.

pretty much, yes. Of course there are so many undercurrents in the The Way it would be difficult to write cannon.
Some one mentioned my book earlier. "The Fall of Mahkinoc" is no in the layout stage "the actual phase wher eyou decide about page humbers and how to space thing out on a page, pre-printing basically. It is loosly based on the same material Lun drew from to make the Crestfallen series. of course it is primarily in a different part of the world.

I think that everyone, who wanted to, should write their own novelisation of The Way and we could all sort through them and make an uber-novelisation and then send it to Lun to fine-tune it.
It makes perfect sense!

I've always been open to the idea that if Lun likes what I do with the novelisation, I could give it to him, let him make all the edits and changes and rewrites he wants to, and make it official. At least, if he were willing enough to cooperate with that, but right now I don't think he wants to co-write anything, or even have a large amount of input. Obviously Lun is required to do the best possible novelisation, but I specialise in this kind of stuff too. I'm doing his work for him. >_> Of course, Lun can do whatever he wants and it probably will end up being the best choice. I just think Lun should devote all his time to all the other Way-related projects he has first.

No. I think he is refferring to The Way spinoff novelisations in the Fan Section of the main site.

I honestly think people who make fan fics should be shot. You dont't ruin a man's story by adding your own goddamn twist to it.

I can't be sure but yoreliter might only be talking about fanfics based on the characters within the original story, not just based within the same universe.

Any thing so disgusting as to being called a fan fic, should be decimated and the writer decompossed like Jean did to bitches in X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

Sometimes, I tend to agree with you and I think, "What the heck are we doing?" Then I realize that's the reason we do it anyway, to put our own little touches and make it ours. Actually, it's probably very selfish - how come we think we can do better anyway? I guess whether we succed is up to popular opinion. But let me tell you this: I've read a lot great fanfictions and the best of them are novelizations. The best of those are the ones that help to bring the story even more alive more me, showing me things I didn't notice and going into glorious detail where it isn't possible in other media. That is a good fanfic.
