It's an amazing game because the story is built around politics, not around the usual questing to do stuff because we all know it will eventually lead to saving the world. Of course, you still save the world in FFT.....but what leads up to that is what makes it cool.

Plus it has the coolest special job classes ever. Holy Knight. Lune Knight. Holy Swordsman. Engineer. Dragoner. Temple Knight. SO badass.

FFTA wasn't a terrible game, it just wasn't as good as alot of other tactics games out there, Like Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, and I would assume FFT(I've never played this myself but its supposed to be amazing)

I only have a few things to say.

First of, FF9 was a piece of shit. Only thing it had going for it was Freya. I don't understand everyone's obsession with Vivi. Just a Black Mage.

FF8, isn't my favorite, but it was still a great game. Definately better than FF9.

FFX was awesome, and it's only draw back was it's linear gameplay. Bashing on Tidus because he's an athlete is the stupidest piece of shit I've ever heard. I guess those of you antisocial gamers out there have a grudge against the jocks at school, so you project your frustrations toward video game characters.

FFTA was a great game as well. If you know Square at all you realize that they don't settle for using the same systems over and over and over again. Your expections of FFT were different than what it delivered, so you have a biased opinion. A great example is Fable. Many people hate this game because it lacks things they wanted in it, instead of loving it for the greatness it does possess.

All in all, after reading most of this thread, I've noticed that you all have a problem with the fact that FF games are never the same. You complain when Square/all of its incarnations mixes things up a bit for a variety. I'm sorry that draw wasn't Materia. I'm sorry that the Sphere grid wasn't Materia. Adapt to something new, or don't play new games at all.

One last thing... Square's greatest moment of brilliance------------------------------> Xenogears.

I only have a few things to say.

I've never played FFTA, but other than that, Halelujah, brother!

(OK, I did find Tidus being an athlete a little bit silly, but hardly objectionable.)

I couldn't sympathise with tidus's story as much as I could with cloud's or zidane or squall's stories...
the game is supposed to be a lot about travelling but ...IT JUST FEELS SO EMPTY...ff7 even had more travelling in it (see walking on an actual map...)
well FFX it's a good game and has its moment (seeing yuna attempt to whistle is hilarious)
But there were better final fantasy games (And i can at least state my opinion after finishing every single possible final fantasy... Even the out of series ones such as ff legend 1,2 and 3.
I even finished FF adventure which was in fact mystic quest (not to be confused with final fantasy mystic quest - a game i also played, finished and loved for it was my first ever rpg and showed me the basics)which was in fact seiken densetsu 1 which in turn was the prequel to secret of mana and which is now remade into sword of mana...
AND I STILL HAVE AN OVERLY ACTIVE SOCIAL LIFE ^_¨
My favorites? ff7, 9,6,8, Alundra, legend of zelda majora's mask / ocarina of time and chrono cross...
and a whole buttload of others like grandia and old school snes rpg's
