I think it's more of an issue of what your style is.
The PS2 is your console, for instance, if you love action adventure games. For instance, Jak, Ratchet and Clank, and Devil May Cry are all on that system.
Xbox is your Shooting/Fighting Console. If you're waiting to sift through the crap, you'll find some decent gore-o-meter filling games.
The Gamecube is great for RPGs and Adventure/Rpg hybrids, few though they may be.
Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia Legends, the Lost Kingdoms series, and the entire Zelda series call that system home.
Of course, tehre are aberrations. The cube is home to one of the best, if not the greatest survival horror games of all time. And I'm not talking about RE4.
I'm speaking of Eternal Darkness.
And, why is it that people hate the two FFs with the most innovative systems?

Actually it looks like xbox is starting to really lean toward the rpg and PS2 has been having a lot of third-person action games

X-box is leaning towards rpgs but ps2 is still the ideal system for rpgs.

It really doesn't matter, there's perfectly valid reasons for owning any of the three. And thank god there's at least one other person on the planet that understands the majesty of Eternal Darkness.
Maybe if you know your true love is about to move away to college or something, you can stick this shit in the stereo and make the moment last while at the same time listening to pussies whine about bitch shit. Just like you.

How does X-Box beat out the PS2 for fighters? I beg to fucking disagree: The Ps2 gets ALL of the Capcom fighters first, and as far as other series go (aka Soul Calibur), the PS2 USUALLY gets first dibs at the game. Not to mention the PS2 has a better fighter controller.

PS2 controllers are better than the XBox controller and the Gamecube controller. Less confusing and and less finger shifting.

The Junction system and the Sphere Grid, respectively.

Not following you there. If anything, the PS2's L1,L2,R1,R2 dealy makes it the most confusing. Though it is the best controller for fighters, I will give it that.

You're kidding right? The PS2 controller is actually useable compared to the other two. It's the greatest and least confusing controller in history.

How is it any more or less usable than the others? I know the GC controller has some odd button positions, but it takes, what, half a minute to learn it? Same with the R1,R2 bit.

It's the fact that it takes readjusting of your hand to be able to play for more than 5 minutes straight. The controllers are oversized with too many buttons half of which are always out of reach. The controllers are horrible. Only the PS2 has a passable controller in my opinion.
