Hey does anybody know any decent free MMORPGs?
I have been playing this game called Kings Of Chaos; if anybody wants to play it as well, just reply to this topic. I'll send you the link.
It’s a pretty cool game, it is text based however. If that doesn't deter you, you will most probably like it. You make an army and kill other armies. Basic really.
So if anyone has any questions, comments or anything, just let me know.
Cheers.

Watch out though. ITS TICK BASED!

another good one is at tarmongaidon.org. It is very good but i stopped playing it as i got tired of reading the books and just wanted to play something else. It is till very good and i recommend it though it helps if you read the books (The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan). Start out as a Blade master if you want easy level up as skills increase your exp and you don't get a whole lot by level 25-40. after that then you became very strong and kick-butt. Ask Mielle to help you when you start out as she is the best Newbie Helper i know of (she helped me about a year ago so not sure if she is still on). BTW i was almost Kick-butt level but just quit. BTW i think i might have someone still active if interested let me know and ill give you all my sn and passwords and you decide which you want.(might be illegal so don't say anything to give you away.)

Practically all free MMO's turn out to be crap. Still, if you really can't bring yourself to pay the (rather small) monthly fees, I guess you can somehow be happy with the less than mediocre graphics/sound/content of the free ones.

There are probably exceptions, but the ones I tried were a waste of time. I now play World of Warcraft (after having abandoned my Final Fantasy XI character).

Guild Wars has no monthly fees. Its got a great story and great PvP action.

Are there any fees in Guild Wars at all -- is there a subscription fee?

You just buy the game.

There is no further manditory fee for Guild Wars however you do have to pay for each new chapter, if you want it. So either be deprived of the new content within each chapter or pay what works out to be a subscription fee.

It's not free but I've just become a WoW addict. I can't wait for the battlefield expansion pack.

Damn, I guess that I'm one of those people now.

I played it for 10 minutes, trying to figure out what to do, confused as all hell, and then I saw I had to wait 5 and a half hours before I could begin my first battle...
Not happy.
I don't think I'll be playing that game anytime soon...or at all for that matter.

no. Tick based is a widely accepted term in mmorpgs.

Its an mmorpg in which you have to wait a time such as a couple hours or a day in order to recieve new actions or action points.

thus the game progresses by ticks.

Yea, sorry my bad. I am relatively new to the mmorpg scene.
Anyway... are there any other decent mmorpgs out there?

Ragnarok Online... But I guess everyone knows about that. I've never actually played it either :P

I did play RuneScape for a LONG time but haven't played for ages.
