I'm talking about FF7. The translation was really awkward.

Anthology= FF5, FF6 (FF4 in Japan)
Chronicals = FF4, Chrono Trigger
Origins = FF1, FF2

I have played the rom of FF5, but I don't recall the playstation translation too well. I do know the fan translation is generally regarded as being better. FF2/4 also got retranslated for chronicals. Square's idea of retranslating things include adding as many profanities as possible. Not necessarily better.

Your lucky to have that cart, from an Australian point of view that is (Unless you do not like Final Fantasy or do not care) because the first FF game ever released in Australia was FFVII. FF tactics was'nt even released here. And we did'nt even get Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross either.
The only time FFIII was released here was when it was released for PSX.
oh yeah by the way. Doovy & Co. are not gone. After all... I am Doovy and Forunner is still here.

Really? The translation seemed pretty understandable when I played it. but the version released here was probably slightly different.

EDIT: Oops a double post. please don't hurt me.

I'm Australian AND I don't like Final Fantasy. I win.

What matters now is that we missed out on Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, and Earthbound. Damn Nintendo.

I agree with Jera. VII was only such a success because it was so revolutionary, if you think about it it's just standard. I also think that VI is better, and personally my favourate one.

Most games become legendary when you first see them on a new system.

FF7 for PSX and Super Mario 64 for N64. One thing I will have to give FF7 for being phenomenal in is its music. The music was brilliant in nearly every single point in the game.

One of you please marry me, i'll be the girl.

It's ludicrously hard to tell some of my freinds this. Alot of them still work the "other people praise it so i must like it" theory of reasoning and its annoying as hell.

I'll be damned if you get to be the girl!

Wait...

Currently I'm playing differant RPGs and I doubt I play any Final Fantasy again except maybe for VI and any new ones.

Riviera for GBA's pretty good I felt. And I feel Breath of Fire IV is amazing, but that's for another topic and time.

I had been considering getting it. All the reviews are saying good things, but I've stopped trusting reviews a looong time ago.

I thought it was pretty good. You could always try the ROM or something and if you like, you get.

Really, I haven't liked any of the final fantasies since VII, which certainly wasn't the best one. I was so let down by IX that i haven't even played X.

I didn't like any of the non mainstream final fantasies, either, except for tactics. Tactics advance was okay, but it couldn't touch tactics.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

I actually really liked Riviera. It was a new kind of rpg really. lots of stuff you don't see in other rpgs. They get props from me for thinking outside the box.

I don't want to be the fanboy of FF7 here... but what really pulled me into FF7 was the storyline and characters. I could go on for pages on the symbolism of it(well...not really but I can copy and paste pages and pages about it because I'm lazy). Maybe it's just that I'm a hardcore fan, but there's more to FF7 than meets the eye(kind of like transformers) after just one playthrough. I mean other than the way, it's the only rpg I have enjoyed playing. It's the only reason that I ever put down my FPS's and platformers. Anyways, I don't think it's fair to just call it standard even if you're not a fan.

Its a game that provokes emotions and made me not want to stop playing.
What puts off most people I know is the random battles, they dont like training. its kind of like the way really, leveling up materia= absorbing notch items. That and the main characters are VERY similar.
