You know they're even made by the same company now, right?

And if you know about how the FF number system got so badly screwed up until 7, you'll understand why they're calling FFXX "FFXII". The Dragon Quest/Warrior series does have some marginal differences, so I can understand what SE are thinking with their naming system, trying to avoid confusion.

Just because it was made by the same company doesn't mean it's the same game. That is almost like comparing FF to CC (Except for the fact that CC doesn't have a shitload of sequels and spinoffs).

So you don't like Dragon Quest either?
Or is it just the Roman numerals that are bugging you?

How about Star Ocean? Do you like Star Ocean?

Secret of Mana is pretty mad.

Judging from what I've seen, DQ8 seems to have what little bit of Enix magic that remains in SquareEnix.

Or as I like to call it, "Square", because Enix is a company of infaliable glouriousness whereas SquareEnix is a company of mediocrity and overused rhetoric.

But seriously, a cel shaded Toriyama game that ISN'T a Dragonball Z game? Sweet. (Now let's have Chrono Trigger, too).

Being a fan of DQ games myself I'll probably get it, seeing as it IS in fact much better than FF.

While us Australians have to either get them imported, or download them.
and I've already used my 10GB download limit downloading Star ocean 3, and Resident Evil 4.

So I have to wait till December to get it.

Well, yeah, it has gameplay. And is awesome.

Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, however, are basically the same.

Dragon Warrior/Quest games aren't all that great, but I owe them a lot. DW3 was my first RPG and I loved it. I absolutely have to get DQ8 because it'll be the first ever DW/Q game released in NZ.

I'm personally buying it out of sheer principle. By the way, did anybody else notice that they finally decided to change the name back to what it was SUPPOSED to be? Instead of Dragon Warrior (which was a non-Japan localization or something), it's finally back to the original Dragon Quest. Also, anything made by Enix (and it's affiliates) tends to be good, so I'll go on a leap of faith here. I loved DWVII, and I'm sure I'll enjoy/love/cherish/enshrine DQVIII.

I loved the Dragon Warrior Monsters games. Can't wait for the DS instalment to come out.
