Black and White 2

Postby Teenr0cker » Thu May 18, 2006 5:13 pm

So, I recently recieved "Black and White 2", which I assume would have the subtext/title "The second course in shapes, sizes, and shading with only blacks and whites" if I didn't know it was a game. I don't feel compelled to bring up the beast and wait through installation unless I really know it'll be worth it (constantly being sore has made a difference in how I decide on moving :D ). I hear lots of hype, but I just want a simple opinion on this game from any fellow owners.

"hey teen, you could just...look it up or play it" you say, right?
Yup....still lazy.

Oh yeah, by the way, "The beast" is the friggin' huge box of a computer I now game with.

Didn't you say it had a 9800?... can that be called a beast?

I only played the first Black and White, apparently even I didn't have enough of a god complex to play it that long.

B&W2 was rather linear and basic: the battles sucked, there's no online or skirmish modes, and Lionhead put in another unskippable tutorial.
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." (Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio)

There's a patch to make it skipable, though.

Its fun the first time you play it. Then you find out that there isn't really another way of going about a mission again unless you want it to go by slower.

Just get Spore when it comes out.

I call it a beast because the damn thing is fuggin heavy and bulky in comparison to the boxes I've seen and used before. Hell, I'm using a freaking laptop right now for all non-gaming purposes.

War, I'm letting you know right here and freakin' now...restraining myself from using that last bit to make a good deal of fun of you takes incredible will, apparently, so I'll just say it plain and simple...I don't know a single, sensical person who doesn't want to get spore at this point.

Whoever doesn't want spore is either a FPS nerd or just not a gamer.

Spore is going to be an excellent game. Get it. Get it now. Well, at least when it comes out.
In this day and age, an era where there are people who actually throw shit at each other, anything, could be possible.

Black and White is good for letting out aggression. Got a bad grade? Go electrocute a village. Younger sibling annoys you? Go fireball a bunch of little children enjoying their pure childhoods in the kinder garden.

Naturally, this game has a way of developing your natural sadism, which I'm sure is very developed as it is for you, Teen. This game gets boring though. You might be God and all, but there's so little to actually do outside the stupid missions. Impressing villages and such and raising your creature is cute, but REALLY... After the third village impressing isn't, well, impressive anymore, and you get tired of raising your creature by the of Mission 1.

It's nice for a couple of days, and you can spend time with it if you have nothing to do. But you're not gonna choose it over other, more quality games. Like Age of Empires 1.

Well I'm playing it a little this weekend...it's not TOO bad, cept for the dumbass pet of mine, keeps deciding he needs to shit at the dumbest times, then wonders if it'll taste like shit if he eats it.....I smacked him for a few minutes, even when it was all "okay! okay! Eating shit is bad!" on the +/- bar.

I chose the cow, because the cow looked totally cool....but it gayed up on me so I went with wolf. I'm throwing people into the ocean when they complain ("my daughter is pregnant, but claims she was never with a man! I demand a dowry of one-thousand wood for this offense!"...hmm, I never saw any action, so I'll make some of my own! *fling woman and father into sea!* Problem solved), but goddamn, every time I get migrators, I get positive allignment, so its a pain. It took me a minute to realize the water miracle doesnt actually drown people, so I was disappointed with that...more later.
