I can't import this file...

Postby teeran » Thu Aug 17, 2006 7:41 pm

I went to the RAW Material Editor in RPGMaker 2000, selected FaceSets, and clicked Import. When I clicked on the Faceset I was going to import, it said "Unsupported PDF file". The file is 148x148, just like the requirements say. Is there some bug when you copy/paste faces into a program such as Paint? I copy/pasted one of the faces from the Hero FaceSets so I could edit expressions for my game. Btw, I'm a newbie with RPG Maker.

As far as I'm aware, facesets in RM2k(3) have to be 192 x 192 (or smaller, where the dimensions are multiples of 48), and must either be 256 color .bmp or .png.

Oops. The file is 192x192, not 148x148. I must have mixed it up with something...
Now that I think about it, it does say PNG, not PDF... I think I'm going crazy. I need to change the extension... thanks for bringing that to light.

No, I'm not going crazy, I just forgot. The file I have IS PNG, and the dimensions are 192x192. I guess it's the 256 color thing. Does that mean you have to set your computer to 256 colors when you upload it or when you draw it? My computer only supports 16-bit and 32-bit. Is 16-bit closest? (I think I read somewhere that 15-bit was 256 color or something)

No, it just means you have to save it as a 256 color bitmap. Just open whatever program you use to edit images (MS Paint works), and go to save as, and select 256 color bitmap. It'll make the images look crappier, but that's how rm2k works, I guess.

Seeing as I've worked with RPGMaker for years, I'll say this.

Do not use paint to save as 256 color bitmap.

Use IrfanView.

I saved it as a bitmap, and it finally imported. Thanks!
(Note: I'm using Paint.NET.)

I tried uploading a picture for my title screen as a PNG image, and it rejected that too with the message "Unsupported PNG image". Does RM2k not support any PNG image, even though it says it does? And yes, the dimensions were correct. I saved the pic as a bitmap, but it really looks crappy, as opposed to the original pic, which looks awesome.

I also have a question about music files. I have a few songs I really like (One of which I want to put as my Title BGM, because it suits the game), but the files are .mp3 or .something else that's not MIDI or wav. Is there a way to convert files to .MIDI or .wav?

Posting 3 times in a row is a crime punishable by death unless there are made 2 weeks apart or more. I vote that you be hung, drawn and quartered and then pissed on.

The first of those 3 posts was posted 2 weeks before the second one.[/i]

Oh, I couldn;t be arsed to scroll upwards to see when that post was made. I assumed it was made a few days before the second one. But double posting is just as bad. Shame on you.
