You could try Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. I bought it because the first and second were awesome. I didn't like this one though. Oh and if you like the later Final Fantasy games then FFXII is always there. It's not really old school. It's a huge change from the traditional J-RPG, it's set in the same world as FFT, it has more of a political storyline (Just like FFT). Voice acting is great. Don't go for FFX though. you probably already know how much of a mess that one was. Especially the the PAL version. 17.5% slowdown & squished image (/me shudders). The North American version doesn't have these problems but it missed out on all the extras. So if you must get it, I'd recommend buying the Japanese international version (if you have a modchip or swap magic). It's in NTSC, has all the extras, and you can set the whole game to run in english so you don't have to know Japanese.

I've looked at Valk Prof 2. I don't mind side scrolling, I liked Odin Sphere. Is Valk Prof 2 good plot/char wise?

I have Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter, never beat it. I liked FF12, I think FF10 is a disgrace.

And I have heard Disgaea is great but it's so hard to find. What is so great about it though?

I thought FF12 was a complete waste of video game, it was an attempt to make an mmorpg out of a single player rpg. The story didn't interest me at all, literally, I don't even remember what it was about.

yeah i agree. Everyone says that it's the best one yet, but I find VI and VII much more enjoyable.
oh yeah by the way. Doovy & Co. are not gone. After all... I am Doovy and Forunner is still here.

I think it beats a good portion of the other FF games, but it is not as good as VII or VI. But then again, they were masterpieces. As far as the story goes, I think it was good, but could have been better. It's exact problem was lack of memorability.

FFXII > FFX

To be honest, if you're going to judge FFXII off of the other FF games then of course it's going to fare badly when it has to contend with VI, VII, VIII and IX, I mean FFIX and VIII were fucking epic man.

I honestly think VIII was one of the worst ever made.

So anyone have any other suggestions?

I enjoyed playing VIII and X but I will admit that the story was gay as aids. I have never had the privilege of playing VI or VII, they are wicked hard to find.

There's copies of every FF game in my local second-hand video game store. I don't want to get III unless they bring it our for PlayStation.

Ok guys, so what is the consensus on the next RPG that I should play for the PS2. I have played BoF5, Suikoden 3-5, FF10, FF12, Tales of the Abyss(thanks Strayed), SO:Till the End of Time. I think that about covers it. Oh yeah, I doubt I will be able to buy Disgaea, so I don't know if that will be a great suggestion unless you can tell me where to get it. Thanks.
