That's Diablo III. Seems both games will be using that realistic engine.

Most of you guys would be playing both, but me being in college I probably dont want to get my self too addicted.

Help me choose ^^

It's all a matter of preference... Personally, I'd get Diablo 3. There's lots of good RTS games, but not that much hack and slash.

StarCraft II. Or Supreme Commander seeing as that is already out.

It really just depends on how much you want to learn what happens with Kerrigan. Personally, I'm dying to get Starcraft II.

I've never really cared for either series and probably won't be getting either, but between the two I'd probably go with Diablo 3.

StarCraft is only good if a)you're into the storyline or b)you enjoy insanely competitive multiplayer battles against ruthless Koreans and other internet elites. I haven't played in awhile since all friend gave up playing to play Ragnarok online of all things and so rather than play the AI or random people online I chose to forego. One of my friends was "training me" as in, we'd have endless 1v1 battles where he'd use different tactics and such and I had to find ways to beat them. My ultimate tactic would be that if I lost I would then copy the other player's strategy exactly and it worked most of the time until one of my friend's realised what I was doing and knew the counter-strategies to every single one I used. I've got a lot better in RTS games now, I can pretty much beat all my friends at C&C: Generals now. I might try getting into playing Supreme Commander online again, none of my friends have it yet and those who do, don't understand it but I actually won online sometimes and so rather than relinquish playing I may attempt to get good at it.

I was never that good at Starcraft. I played AoK instead.

You can only get better with practice, then again you need people who either the same level as you or super-elite so they can train you.

Or you can just be born Korean.

Well, there's no evidence to suggest that Koreans are naturally talented at Starcraft, or RTS in general. It's the culture over there. To get to such a high standard, you need to dedicate a LOT of time to it. And let's face it, it's not something that's really accepted in Western society.

Yup. Pretty much anybody not conforming to the standards of Capitalism is an outcast. Anybody who spends more than 2 hours doing anything on a computer or game console that isn't socialising, is not only a nerd but an outcast and a potential rebel to western society and capitalism. All I can say is that I'd rather be an outcast than an escapist.

South Korea is just as capitalist as the rest of the western world. The fact that the South Koreans turned something like gaming into a capitalist industry (note korean mmo players who sell gold and characters to lazy fucks...not to mention all the revenue generated by the constant starcraft tourneys and whatnot) could show that they're actually more capitalist than the rest of the western nations, who view gaming as a leisure or social activity.

I dunno why we're talking about capitalism now, I'd have thought it was more of a cultural thing.
