I always saw it as Rhue defending himself from Lyrra. Heck, I would that if I was him. The sword getting knocked off... Maybe it was just the Shadow Sword pushing him forward, but Rhue stabbed her. Strata, Traziun... Heck, any Lyn would do that. Except for Gaius. If nothing, the PS slowly curropted Rhue and made him naturally edge more towards killing.

Would have thought Rhue could have disarmed her easily enough without killing... Lyrra's not exactly a sword maiden

Precisely. Of course, with her being that hysteical, people would be shocked for a second too late, and then get stabbed.

Well, we know she had a shadow sword, Rhue had one, and that shadow swords have a tendancy to want to get rid of the other. I dont see any reason we should assume that the sword didn't play some part in getting Rhue to kill her and knock away the sword.

Having said that though, I'm more inclined that Rhue did infact kill Lyrra of his own will in the heat of the moment. Even though there is still a good chance that the sword did play a part in killing Lyrra... Other then the fact that it was the instrument that cut through her body ^_^ ..

When Rhue knocks the sword away from Lyrra and knocks the sword into the pit in Lide, he has the same silent cold stare... When he killed Lyrra he closed his eyes and immediately felt remorse for what he had done.

Yeah, just like how he felt surprised when he knocked away the sword in lide. Of course he showed emotion, just because he was forced into killing her doesn't meen he wouldnt feel regret.

Well we only know of Night Reaper, Phantom Slasher, and Ghost Horror by name right?

Anyway, we're not misunderstanding the Phantom slasher in rhue's sword thing are we? I'm acknowledging that the phantom slasher is a part of the sword and is projected by the sword, but it's clear that the Phantom Slasher is born of outside influence, since Arctura is still there inside the sword.

So is the Phantom Slasher, in the same 'plane of existence' as Arctura. The interior of the tower is something like a special location, like the places where you fought the Phantom Slasher, or met Slade and Lexus. It's unclear to me if the Phantom Slasher is really bad by virtue of being born of a Shadow Sword, or if he doesn't even realize what he's doing is wrong. Perhaps when Traziun kills himself, and the sword 'feels remorse' it also realizes that the way it's been doing stuff sucks and it would rather destroy itself, knowing it can't escape the currpoting influence.

What you gotta realize is just because some things are in the Sword it doesn't mean they're just your average Auas. The Phantom Slasher is the Sword's 'messenger', the sword communicates with Rhue through him-He is the one who asks Rhue not to part, he is the one who warns Rhue of Gaius, he is the one that eventually resists Rhue. He sure acts as if the Sword's intrests are his top priority-While only several, if any, people are aware that they're inside a Shadow Sword.

Only problem with that is it involves the sword having to take control of Rhue twice.. Takes control to kill Lyrra, loses control to allow Rhue to feel remorse for a few moments, then takes control again to knock Lyrra's sword away.. Seems kinda inefficient.

I still can't get my head around the whole sword destroying itself from remorse thing.. The one time it feels remorse is the one time it had no choice but to be used for someones death.

Did it feel remorse because it was the instrument that killed it's friend? Did it feel remorse because it was the instrument that killed Rhue's friend? And with either of thoughs, why did it not feel remorse when it killed Lexus?

Did it instead somehow form bonds with its wielder and in the couple of seconds Traziun held the sword a bond was formed, which then caused the remorse from his death..? Or did it somehow feel Traziun's emotions of what had happened to lead him to this point?

Your making it more complicated then it has to be. why? I'm not saying the sword completly posses him, its more like a reflex or somthing.

Sage: Perhaps, if it was only a reflex action.. I'm not ruling out either possibilities

Didn't Lyrra go all "Psycho-stabity-must-kill-things-much" a short while after Kalmar died and said that Ghost Horror would go to another?

Kalmar dies. Ghost Horror flies away to the room where Slade is laying half dead. This implies the sword was ment to go to him. But he leaves without taking the sword. Later a blood Lyn chases Lyrra into the same room. Next time we see he blood stained and sword in hand. That explains the sword thing.
