Theory Extravaganza

Postby Kcrazy » Sun Mar 02, 2008 12:50 pm

I haven’t posted here in about two years, but the other day I was chatting with a friend and member of this board, and we came up with some possibly breakthrough theories. I would like some peoples help and opinions on these ideas.

Theory I: Shadow Swords = Illuminati
Alright this one here is nothing new and probably now considered being fact. We believe that when the Lyn attacked Lord Bellow and he sent out the “shockwave” the swords some how changed from the swords of noble justice to sword of a corrupted and abstract justice. However some where in the game there is listed seven Illuminati and only three shadow swords, this leave four swords accounted for and my only problem with this theory. This is where I feel as if we may have found some thing. In Dream Estrana there are nearly countless amounts of absorbed auras, but there are four auras in particular that stick out in my mind, the four shadow plunges. Why are they there, why are they shadows, and how come they are so powerful. Well we believe when Lord Bellow sent out the shockwave that change three of the sword, that the other four unaccounted for Illuminated were destroyed and absorbed into Dream Estrana. Now why these four were destroyed and the other three just changed I am not sure and this is were I would like some more ideas as why.

Theory II: Aubuta = Last Illuminati
A popular theory is that both Gaius and the Harbinger, who are quite possibly one in the same, possess an Illuminati. This theory is supported by the fact the Rhue’s Shadow Sword is unable to attack either Gaius or the Harbinger, and is actually repelled. We believe that an Illuminati is responsible for the repelling. Well according to my theory above the seven listed Illuminati where either changed or absorbed into Dream Estrana. Except that the man in red states that one of the sword was not found. So the unfound Illuminati would have been unharmed by the shockwave due to the fact it wasn’t there. Also since this last Illuminati wasn’t found it’s quite possible it wouldn’t be listed in the book with the others, meaning there is actually eight Illuminati. I believe some how this eighth Illuminati fell into possess of Kalmer, who then gave it Gaius to further establish him as his “perfect blade”. Now why I’m certain that Kalmer is the one who gave Gaius the Illuminati, well Kalmer has a Shadow Sword and appears understands a lot about the swords nature, so it’s possible to assume he knows the same about the Illuminati and there nature, such as repelling Shadow Swords. All this knowledge would become relevant when Rhue attacked Kalmer and all he says is “Aubuta”. Aubuta could possibly be the name of the eight Illuminati, and he says it because he realizes he’s being attacked by a shadow sword and that if he had the Aubuta he would be safe of harm.

We have fragments of other theories but currently aren’t thought out well enough to be considered legit. As for now I would like to concentrate on these two specifically as I consider these to be the building blocks of our ideas. As I stated before I would like to discuses these and would like everyone’s opinions. And real quick I’d like to give credit to my accomplice on developing these theories, Phantom Slasher aka the Cheeto.

I thought it was common knowledge that there were eight Illuminati and that seven were changed to shadow swords. It's also been pretty much established that Gaius has an Illuminati or something. And it's Kalmar, not Kalmer.

Well theres only three shadow swords so the theory use is really to tie in what happen to the other four because I haven't heard any explaination on that. Also I was trying to figure out what "Aubuta' was, and as my theory states, it's pretty resonible for it to be the last Illuminati which isn't listed with the other seven.

EDIT: Actually by looking over serveal topics today I've seen many people are confused over the number of Illuminati and the unaccounted for shadow swords. So I think this theory will help clear some confusion.

Could you provide us with a link to a theory that accounts for the 8 Illumaniti? It'd help greatly with fine-tuning our personal ideas.

I'm trying to remember, is there anywhere in the series that says how many illuminati there are? The book listing the names of the illuminati only lists 7 and says that they are just a few of them. to me 'few' meens that its less than half of them, meaning there alot more then you think.

I didn't understand exactly what you where getting at in your first theory, but I should point out that The Phantom Slasher and Arctura are most likely the same sword, that being Rhue's sword. For your second theory, I still think Aubuta was just a curse word. (Albiet probably one with some kind of relevant meaning, like all the other curse words in the game)

The book that list their names is in Rhue's room at the casino, episode four I believe. Tomy memory it list seven names and thats it, I don't recall the word "few" at all. I could possibly be wrong here as I've not played the game in over two years, and I don't currently have it on my computer.

But anyways the whole idea of the theory is that of the seven accounted for illuminati (being found and named) only three of them have been turned to shadow swords. This leaves four swords that we know nothing about, no reference to them at all. One could assume that they just havn't been recovered, or in our theory, we believe that the swords have been destroyed and had there auras asorbed. The only evidence I have of this is that in dream estrana there is four shadow plunges, and that we believe them to be the auras of the missing/destoryed shadow swords.

The second theory was way more far-fetched but really the best part of it is revealing that there were eight illuminati and that Gaius has the last one.

"There's a book here about the Illuminati, The Swords of Justice. Apparently they even had specific names. Only a few are listed here. Revalzo, Aldebaran, Arctura, Betelgeuse, Fomalhaut, Venturi, and Regulus."

Also, can someone find where exactly the shadow swords are listed? I want to say that it was said by one of those hooded guys that look like the Harbringer in EP4, but I can't find it.

I'm pretty sure Non-Sequitur listed the names of all the known Shadow Swords and Illuminati awhile back.

Alright well judged on that I agree with you, so that pretty much debunks the theory. But then how many Illuminati are there. If seven is a few then I would agree with you and say thats atleast half, and there will always be a +1 for the unfound one.

As for shadow swords, I was never given a lear answer on where they were actually named in game. Just event names for the most part. Supposedly Trazium mentions that the Phantom Slasher is not only the name of the killer but Rhue's sword as well. But as a source for all three of there names, I've never seen one in game.

Well, if the person the women in the Reflective Sky area was talking about was Kalmar, then hes a few hundred years old. If not, then we don't really know anything.

Alright a few thousand years. well then he would be older then seven generation meaning he would predate Kava and Kura. So would assuming he was one of the orginal lyn who attacked Lord Bellow a crazy assumption. Age wise, he would fit correct? i'm guessing the Shadow Sword is the reason of his unnatural life span and it's possible he's had that sword since it was an Illuminati. Also the word Aubuta may or may not have an coonection to the swords themselvves but it's not part of natural dialogue amoungst wanders of the way. So that can be evidence if you will of how old he was. Thoughts?
