The Way and Christianity

Postby Non-Sequitur » Sun Dec 27, 2009 2:57 pm

This thread is for compiling a list of things in The Way that are related to Christianity. This is what I can think of so far, but I feel like I am forgetting some things and other people can probably come up with more.

The Way was a term used for early Christianity.
Gaius has an attack called Trinity.
Slade has an attack called Outer Darkness.
Gharon has an attack called Longinus.
One of the transcendental auras is called Rapture.
Eyashu may be an anagram for Yeshua and Episode 5 has the hidden message, "Yeshua Save Me". (See this post.)
Johann Tetzel has been discussed a lot here.
I remember a discussion about the messages in the game over screen being related to Christianity:
"Where is your hope?"
"Death has lost it's sting."
"Help me. I'm afraid."

Single Sin, one of Rhue's transcendent attacks, (respective aura varies).

Pontifex Maximus is a title used by the Pope.
In this day and age, an era where there are people who actually throw shit at each other, anything, could be possible.

The whole Guided in general is pretty much a commentary on Christianity and religion in general.
And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

Although not exactly as Christianiaty says,
there's the Upper and Lower Way allusion to Heaven and Hell.

There could be a relation between the stories of Cain and the Mimic, but nothing that deep, I guess.

I always thought this, just his nature of wandering the way is similiar to cains punishment. Kura killing Kava is similar to Cain and Able, and if rhue is truely the pharaphyln, him being marked is like the mark of cain.

Pontifex maximus means the Highest priest, something like that. It was used for the highest pagean priest in ancient Rome beforehand already.

It could be. The Purpose and believing in it is shown to be atheism and Religion (Prevalent). Religious fooling themselves into wandering the way since they heard it which is the exact opposite of olden times when people thought the world was flat and they'd fall out
