A few finishing questions.

Postby Stedar » Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:52 pm

It's been sort of a tradition to replay The Way during the summer. I recently have, and just had a few burning questions I'd like to know if people know the answer to.

Just as a small note, (Hopefully this topic will be taken more seriously than my previous ones. Being in 8th grade back then and posting on these forums wasn't a very smart plan to begin with.)

1) In the reaches ending, (I believe) Cetsa's body was not near Slade's and there was a line of blood going off the screen (as if her body had been dragged.) I was wondering if there was a reason for this that people knew.

2) Also in the reaches ending, is it implied that Rhue died in the reaches and his body in the real world also died? Is there any indication of whom Traziun was referring to when he was talking about a girl?

There are more questions, but they can wait.

I guess the implication was that she survived. Whether by herself or by some other intervention, and to what end is unknowable.

That's always how I interpreted it.

Stedar wrote:Is there any indication of whom Traziun was referring to when he was talking about a girl?

Also unknowable. I've heard everything from Kloe to Verdanna (the owner of the Grand Casino in E4/E5).

It has been a while so I may be remembering incorrectly, but I thought it was the Lexus ending where that happens.

No, you're probably right! I just did all three at once.

Ahh, yes. It's a shame that Verdanna only talked like once in the series.

And thank you Jeramyu.

1) Now I was re-reading the topic about the scavenger hunt in the coding (and I'm quite depressed the topic died and so did the progress on cracking the E6 startmap code) but this message from fwacho was in there and I was quite intrigued when I read it. No one seemed to respond to it either.

fwacho wrote:I'll tackle this one then go to bed. The painting really does signify "the Way" Imagine how much fun this game woudl be if teh mysterious were handed to you on silver plater. Many people want to know the whole truth and accept nothing less, but reality is that at most we know only a little about anything. So when Phantom admires the painting missing its center piece and like it better that way so Lun sees the game as better the way it is. I promise you the truth was written and is in a notebook, Lun's heart and one other person's. Were the whole picture to be visible, where would the challenge be? what would cause you to stare and look? Rather Lun chose to hide the truth from plain sight and the gamer discern what he could of what is missing (and even have a pretty accurate guess, if they took their time to think about it). The challenge of the mystery is reward in and of itself.

Reality is kind of like that. What fun would it be if you knew what was going to happen. Isn't it so much better that way. yes you know it will be sunny tommorrow, but if you aren't looking you'll miss that cloud that looks like the mona lisa floating by. and suddenly you have to rely on oteh rpeopel to make sure you won't miss things. Or youcan be lazy and misss them without feelign regret for knowing what you're missing.

This, if you ask me, seems like the real truth behind The Way. Or as much as we'll ever know, perhaps. I was just wondering what others thought of this.

2) I was also wondering about the shadow plungers. The first one you face has been pretty much universally accepted as Traziun's Night Reaper manifestation right? And then once the plunge is over it's destroyed? (Ep 3) Then you face a similar shadow plunger in Episode 5 during the whole Slade part (although this one seemed a bit different). If these plungers are really the manifestation of the shadow swords, are the ones in DE just for show/fun so Lun could add some more strategy to plunging?

3) It's been accepted that the sword sticking in the ground in the end was Ghost Horror, right? If so, what is that other sword in the blood on the cliff that Traziun was on?

I've got to go so I'll just answer this one because its easy. The sword is Night Reaper, the shadow sword Traziun had. He probably left it there so it wouldn't interact with Rhue's sword when he confronted him. If you look carefully in that last scene with Traziun, he has no sword in his sheath\scabbard\whatever its called. Why theres blood on it, no idea really. Maybe it has to do with unlinking yourself from a shadow sword, maybe its Kalmar's blood, maybe Traziun is just so badass he made the mountain bleed. We may never know.

This is the best theory I've heard yet.

That thread died because we didn't really have any more places to go. No more feasible work that could actually be done. As for what fwacho said? What I'm getting from that is that the best shot we have at figuring out the secrets of the way is hacking Lun's computer and getting at that notepad file.

Well I had did a huge theory one on this that didn't really go anywhere because there's no proof, but what I cam up with was that the shadows where absorbed auras from the previous shadow swords, since there is like 7 Illuminati and only 3 shadow swords. So I figured through time, the shadows had been absorbed into one.

That actually sounds quite plausible. Afterall, Rhue did kill multiple shadow figures in the real world, such as that one in the Pits when he was with Scatha. In fact that makes a whole great deal of sense.
In this day and age, an era where there are people who actually throw shit at each other, anything, could be possible.

Yeah i liked the way it sounded, but like nearly everything in the way, there is no proof to confirm or deny it. Only evidence I could think of is how the shadow swords like to attack one another, or at least Rhue's did.

I was always under the impression that there were more shadow swords, we just didn't see them. I mean, we only actually saw one Illuminati. Maybe. I still go with the theory that the shadow swords are the Illuminati corrupted by the Lord Below during the battle at Janwen. So right now there would be six shadow swords and one Illuminati.

I thing the Illuminati were Shadow Swords also, but i don't think there are more Shadow Swords then the three we see, because the others have been destroyed. The swords seem to find away to interfere with another, with just the short time the other two changed hands and made there way near the Phantom Slasher. I think there is definitely only one Illuminati left and that belongs to Gaius. That would leave at least six Shadow Swords, and we only have accounted for three. So I think over time, the others had been absorbed just like the auras of people, and they are seen in Dream Estrana has the Shadow Plunges.

Unfortunately the math does not add up, since there are four Shadow Plunges in Dream Estrana and only three unaccounted Shadow Swords, unless the uncorrupted Illuminati was not one of the named seven since it was unearthed after the fact. That would give you four Shadow Sword to match up with each of the Shadow plunges.
