Holy fuck guys

Postby Sage Of The Wise » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:35 am

It has been a long time. I originally played this game when I was fourteen. Fourteen. And that was early fourteen. Middle school fourteen. Now I'm 21, I'm going to graduate college in less than a year.
Been looking through my old posts. Very first post was about Alan's legs sticking out of those bushes in EP5, I had been thinking that maybe I was the only one to see them, not nearly the case of course. Then about a month later I apparently peaked as far as general usefulness goes when I managed to find some code that gives away every playable character in EP6 a year before the episode comes out, and then theorize that the episode takes place in Dream Estrana. Even I didn't think I was right. Seven years later and I haven't proved more useful to that.
I remember thinking that year between EP5 and EP6 being spanning ages, imagine where we'd be now if the series had continued.
Also hard to remember how active the forums used to be. Apperantly we used to have a newsletter run by OverlordBill(also we used to have an OverlordBill) about the comings and goings of the forums. Seriously, heres one from 2005:

On the 23rd of January, Lun was sighted once more, marking down an
update on the crestfallen.us mainsite.
***
I made some pretty decent progress this week on Episode 6. I haven't
had as much time as I normally do as of late, but I'm keeping up a
pretty good pace.

I noticed that some people are talking about an online plunge and maybe
a MMORPG for The Way. I've always wanted to do some network programming
so I actually did code the framework for an online plunge game back in
December. Iamtheverb helped me test it out and it played pretty smooth.
It's in a pretty raw form right now though. There are no Blade Arts or
Link Attacks and I haven't set up a PHP page to keep track of hosted
games, stats, etc. Network programming is probably the most difficult
type of programming I've ever done so it's been a good learning
experience thus far. Hopefully I'll get more done in the future as I
further develop my programming skills.

Lastly, I'd just like to remind people who were planning on donating
money via snail mail to my P.O. Box to please do so soon. A dollar, two
dollars, five dollars, whatever you feel like. It would be nice to get
a little cash, but it's not like I'm impoverished. Depending on how it
goes I may close the P.O. Box in April when it's up for renewal(it
costs $14 for six months of use).

Jaa, mata

Best estimates place the start of beta testing in two months.

=*c-unit Returns with Friends*=
In a tragic moment on the 26th of January, c-unit made an appearance
with two more annoying individuals who seem to be related to him. As we
prepared to flame him away again, it seems he had run off by himself.
Have we seen the last of c-unit? One can only hope.

=*Crestfallen Games Remake in Planning Stage*=
The little known and much less played Crestfallen Trilogy has been
brought into the light once again as talk commence about remaking said
games for a newer audience. Currently, applications are being taken for
all positions.
More on this as it develops.

=*Teenr0cker Starts Fiction*=
On January 28th, a thread on the board appeared with a title that
sounded very much like the start of a bad bar joke. Contained within
though is the start of Teenr0ckers new fictionalization of the events
of his joining the Crestfallen Forums. Though lacking in proper
structure, it does make up somewhat in detail.
Teenr0cker could not be reached for a proper name to his story, but all
the same it seems vaguely familiar. Much like a certain story that we
no longer acknowledge nor willingly remember.
More on this as it develops.

=*Ryan Returns*=
In a suprising turn of events, former Crestfallen member Splixed (Now
preferring to be called Ryan) has rejoined the Crestfallen forums. Oh
yeah. Sbf came back at some point too. But we don't like him. And he's
gone again. So lets all make friends with Ryan again everybody! Yay!

=*New Fad Arises*=
In connection with Dr. Casey, a phantomy board member who never
actually posts, a topic has arisen where youths ask our supposed doctor
questions in the form of a proper letter. Though the doctor has yet to
respond to any of the questions, the trend has caught on and can now be
described as, "All the cool kids are doing it". So be cool and ask Dr.
Casey a question today.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the point of this topic was, I've basically been writing it as I look through old posts and emails, but holy fuck nostalgia. Such good times to look back on. Hope other people feel the same.

Yeah it's hard to believe it's been that long since I beat episode six. I've been creeping around these boards for years waiting for signs of something more.....maybe one day.

I remember when Episode 6 came out, back in the days before people had webbed knees, when we were young and the world was in front of us. I'm going to be 23 in November. I feel so old. I've actually shouted "GET OFF OF MY LAWN" to a bunch of kids a few times.

I just came by to check the forums again, like I usually do since I've recently decided to play the game again. It's nice to see that there's still activity here and I won't be completely lost if I forgot anything, since my first post was in 2005 after I just about beat the game.

I'm like the rest of you; I always come here and the IRC chat after replaying the game or just dabbling in the RPG Maker community again. If Jeramyu is the life support of this forum, I wonder what this would make us?

How terrible. No man your age should have to bust out that phrase for at lead another 10 years. D=

Presumably, the cancer.

I'm not sure if it is because I am more mature than I should be, or if people my age are less mature than they should be. Either answer depresses me. Although my girlfriend tells me I am more mature than people her age (she's 29.) I'm unsure what to think of this.

Splixed was the biggest ass-hat at this forum. Pulling second is that one douche who claimed to be old and married, but he was 14.

It has been quite awhile, hasn't it my bros?
We can look forward to a Crestfallen production coming soon however.
Everyone save some $ for that novel coming out soon!
When it comes to RM2k/3 has anyone played anything promising? I've kinda fell out of the RPG maker scene.

I pretty much haven't played anything since Sunset Over Imdahl, which wow must be like six years ago at this point. I wonder if iishenron is still working on Queen's Court...

Sunset Over Imdahl was a great game. Queen's Court was never finished to my knowledge, nor was A Blurred Line. I seem to remember the creator of ABL dissing The Way back in the day so suck it to him!

Seems like the rpgmaker community has picked up again after so many years(mostly due to the explosion of indie gaming development I believe), but I don't think it will ever be at the level it once was. Rpgmaker isn't the greatest of tools to make a game with.
<WarV> You know what this place needs?
<Strayed> hookers?
<@Jeramyu> boobs?
<WarV> How about hookers WITH boobs!
<Strayed> I don't like fat guys.

Really when it comes down to it, say what you want about how The Way ended, but at least it had an ending. Its more than most of these games can say.

The only RPG Maker games that I have played and actually care for:
1. The Way (duh)
2. Love and War
3. Sunset Over Imdahl
4. Grave Spirit
5. Three the Hard Way
6. Enter the Cave
