The Way... a planet?

=SPOILER ALERT= This is for those people who have FINISHED E6, and wish to discuss theories and stuff. Do NOT use it as a help board.

Wow... that was interesting... in a kind of macabre way.

Which is more plausible, a planet that just happens to have oceans covering most of it's surface so that only a straight strip is left (oh yes, and a planet-wide band of mist), or an artificially constructed torus with some kind of gravity generation, and an equally artificial collar of mist?

Of course, this discussion is a bit pointless, because all it is is a premise. In order for any fiction to work you have to just accept some things, e.g. the existence of magic. There probably isn't some grand structure of the Way, it's probably just set up to facilitate the story.

If there was though, the most likely would be a Ring World (like off of Halo) even though my earlier suggestion was by far more cooler and/or badass purely due to the fact that I used the phrases "Black Hole" and "Anti-Matter Universe".

Problem is, ringworlds have edges. So far there has been no hint in the Way about what happens if you go at right angles to the Way, but I very much doubt there's just an edge.

But if it was constructed like the Halo's then there would be no edge.

Halo's has an edge. You just never see it exept in the backgrounds of some levels. Even though it loops in one way, there's an adge in the other.

Well, if it were a circular ring, it would technically have no edge.

Wait... What? Aren't all rings circular? You can go foward and backward forever, but you can't go side to side. And that is technically an adge.

That would be a 2D ring. On a 3D or "round ring" you can go side to side, you would just loop around.
And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

Thanks, for clearing that up. I couldn't have put it better myself.

I get it. But, if what were to be true, wouldn't someone have gone around the short way once by now? And then told everyone?

*sigh* You are an idiot aren't you? Don't worry, I will create a diagram to explain it as I can't be bothered to explain to you in words right now.

It's like a donut, right? But you could still go around a shorter way, and reach the other side faster. Or is it a really thick ring?

He IS right, if it were a 3d ring, there would be a shorter way to get to the end of The Way in theory.

Not by much though, depending on the width and length of the ring.

It would be entirely dependant on which way the rolling mists travelled.

The red arrow signifies which way the wanderer travels and the blue is the rolling mists. I'm pretty sure that this doesn't explain it any better but I don't care becuase diagrams are kickass.
